Violins, Cupcakes and Puppies - Showcasing and Networking our Event Planning Business

Showcasing your business is a great opportunity for potential clients to meet you in person and connect. It presents business owners the perfect occasion to link their friendly face to their business. Events by Gayle participated this month in the Gold Coast Connect Networking Expo at the Westport Inn in Westport, CT. This expo was for small business owners and entrepreneurs located in Fairfield County, CT to showcase their businesses. Anyone can be a "mingler" and attend the expo; attendees ranged from local residents to business owners. Since Events by Gayle services social, corporate and non-profit clients, this was a great opportunity to promote our range of offerings.

Events by Gayle was provided with a four foot long table, black tablecloth and two chairs in a six foot space in a large banquet hall. Since we also offer private wine tastings, we wanted to promote that service as well. So here's what we did:

  • Small, rustic table next to the four foot table, as our wine tasting table

  • White overlay over the black table cloth and then a rustic, burlap runner over the white cloth (the expo organizers wanted the black tablecloth to be used for consistency in the room)

  • Tower of beautifully displayed cupcakes and macaroons in the center of our table

  • Large chalk board sign displaying our business name on an easel on the table (all signs had to be tabletop)

  • White lantern filled with beautiful flowers and greenery, overflowing onto the table, to represent centerpieces and decor

  • Custom favor bag to represent favors and our candy buffets

  • Votives with battery operated candles for ambiance (didn't want to start a fire!)

  • iPad on an easel with a slide show of our work

  • Custom rack cards and business cards for guests to take home

  • Violinist serenading guests at our table, representing the classical trio we work with

Of course having a live, classical musician at our table was a showstopper. Although there was a DJ in the banquet room, guests were still able to hear our violinist over the DJ music and oftentimes our violinist accompanied whatever song the DJ was playing at the time!

We were also lucky enough that our neighboring showcaser was a local dog groomer and they brought along an adorable puppy to represent their work. Who doesn't love a cute puppy! Wedged between a puppy and live violinist, we felt great about our space!

Besides for all the hard work setting up and networking, we also took time to have some fun. Events by Gayle networked with the DJ and photo booth company (they were showcasers as well). Our team had some great photos and videos taken by them. There was also an abundance of delicious hors d'oeuvres for guests and showcasers, provided by the in-house catering company, and a full bar. Events by Gayle was very impressed with the organizers of Gold Coast Connect, we know what it takes to put together a great event!

Events by Gayle will definitely be showcasing again and appreciates the advantages of meeting and mingling live. It was refreshing getting out from behind the computer and I think everyone in attendance would agree!
